If there is no improvement, the silver dressing should be discontinued and consider changing to a dressing with a different antimicrobial agent.Once the bioburden is under control and the wound is improving, a non-antimicrobial dressing should be considered. If the wound has improved and signs of infection are no longer present, discontinue use of silver dressing.If there is improvement in the wound but continuing signs of infection it may be clinically justifiable to continue the silver dressing with further regular reviews.Silver dressings should be reserved for use in wounds with, or at risk of, high bioburden or local infection.
